A complete healthcare cleaning programme
Every Vigil healthcare contract is built around your specific premises, risk zones, and CQC compliance requirements. We assess each area before writing your cleaning specification — clinical, non-clinical, and staff welfare zones treated separately throughout.
CQC Regulation 12 requires registered providers to maintain effective infection prevention and control. Vigil's visit records and monthly SLA reports provide the documented evidence trail this regulation requires. Read the guidance →

Why Vigil for healthcare
Healthcare cleaning requires more than a clean floor
Clinical environments need documented evidence, consistently trained operatives, and zero cross-contamination. Most commercial cleaning companies are not set up for this.
CQC-aware protocols from day one
Our healthcare cleaning programmes are designed around CQC Fundamental Standards — particularly Regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment). We understand the evidence requirements and document every visit accordingly.
COSHH-trained across all products and zones
Every operative deployed to a healthcare setting holds current COSHH training — including correct product selection, dilution rates, contact times, and safe disposal procedures. Training records are maintained centrally.
Consistent assignment — same person every visit
The same operative is assigned to your premises on every visit. They know your layout, your risk zones, and your preferences without re-briefing. In clinical environments, that consistency reduces risk visit by visit.
Evidence-ready documentation for inspectors
Digital completion records from every visit are available on demand. Monthly SLA reports summarise attendance, compliance, and reported issues — ready to present to a CQC inspector without preparation.
Regulatory context
What regulators expect from healthcare cleaning
Vigil's protocols and documentation are built around CQC inspection requirements from the first visit.
CQC Regulation 12
Safe care and treatment requires registered providers to have effective infection prevention and control — including documented cleaning evidence. Vigil provides the timestamped visit records and monthly SLA reports this requires.
Read the guidance →COSHH Regulations 2002
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations require that cleaning operatives are trained in product use, dilution rates, contact times, and safe storage. All Vigil healthcare operatives hold current COSHH certificates.
Read the guidance →NHS National Standards of Cleanliness
Vigil operatives deployed to NHS-adjacent or regulated healthcare environments are familiar with the NuSpec framework — the national cleanliness assessment standard used by NHS estates teams and CQC inspectors.

What healthcare practice managers say
"Our CQC inspector specifically commented on the cleanliness of the practice. Having Vigil's visit records to show them made the infection control conversation very straightforward."
Practice Manager
GP surgery, North London
"We've had three different cleaning companies in five years. Vigil is the first where we don't spend Monday mornings fixing what wasn't done on Friday. The same person, every time — it makes all the difference."
Practice Manager
Dental practice, South London
"The colour-coded system was a requirement from our CQC lead. Vigil implemented it on day one without being asked twice. The documentation is exactly what we needed for our infection control file."
Operations Manager

The process
Assessment to CQC-ready in under two weeks
Site assessment first. Written specification agreed. Operative briefed. Digital reporting from day one.
Healthcare site assessment
We visit your premises and assess each zone — clinical, non-clinical, staff welfare, and patient-facing areas — to write a compliant cleaning specification tailored to your practice type.
Written specification & briefing
Your assigned operative receives a site-specific briefing covering risk zones, product selection, access requirements, and your confirmed schedule before their first visit.
Scheduled programme begins
Your operative starts on the agreed schedule. Digital visit records are generated from day one — timestamped, zone-specific, and ready for your CQC evidence file.
FAQ
Healthcare cleaning — common questions
Yes. Vigil provides scheduled cleaning for CQC-registered premises including GP surgeries, dental practices, physiotherapy clinics, and minor surgery facilities. Our operatives follow CQC-aware cleaning protocols — colour-coded equipment, defined schedules by risk zone, and timestamped digital visit records available for inspection. We do not replace your clinical governance lead, but we make their job considerably easier.
Our healthcare cleaning operatives are COSHH-trained and follow a colour-coded equipment system — blue for general areas, red for sanitary areas, yellow for clinical areas — to prevent cross-contamination between zones. We use disinfectants appropriate to each environment, following manufacturer dilution rates and required contact times. Operatives receive induction training specific to healthcare settings before deployment to any clinical premises.
Yes — before-hours (from 6am), between-session, and after-hours (until 10pm) programmes are all available. Healthcare scheduling is confirmed at the site assessment stage and locked into your written specification. We can clean consultation rooms between patient sessions if required, coordinating with your reception team.
Yes. Every Vigil operative — including those deployed to healthcare premises — is DBS checked before their first day on site. We manage the DBS process centrally and retain records. If you require sight of a specific operative's DBS certificate, we can provide it on request. We recommend confirming your required DBS level at the site assessment stage.
Our minimum contract is 2 visits per week at 4 hours per visit on a 3-month rolling agreement with 30 days written notice. Most healthcare facilities — particularly those with patient-facing sessions five or more days per week — benefit from daily programmes. We tailor frequency to your patient flow and CQC compliance requirements during the site assessment.
